Why does my dog need a walker?

The old adage “healthy body, healthy mind” applies just as much to dogs as it does to humans. Regular activity provides mental and physical benefits and is one of the best ways to prevent behavioral issues with your dog. Owners who work long hours can rely on Digger Doggers to provide a break in their furry friend’s day to help prevent an under-exercised, hyperactive pet.

Do senior dogs require regular exercise?

Senior dogs require more frequent bathroom breaks than once needed as a younger dog. Accidents also can cause more stress to the older dog who has been trained to go outside but just cannot wait any longer. It is important for senior dogs to be kept agile and who may need a little encouragement along the way.

Will my dog be trained while out on a walk?

Digger Doggers will reinforce basic obedience throughout the walk. It is expected that your furry friend display appropriate “manners” while on their walk while meeting and greeting other dogs and people. Of course Digger Doggers will practice these “manners” regularly with your furry friend.

Where will my dog be walked?

Digger Doggers will walk from your home and throughout your neighbourhood. It is suggested that routes are varied so your furry friend has a change and of course routes may be arranged according to the customer’s wishes. If you have any special requests, Digger Doggers will gladly accommodate them!

Will you walk my dog in the rain?

Of course no matter what the weather, Digger Doggers will still arrive at your home ready to walk your furry friend. It is important to follow a regular exercise routine regardless of the weather! We do ask that customers leave a towel etc. for days when the weather can get messy!

How will I know how my dog is doing on his walks?

Digger Doggers leaves a calendar in your home which will be marked regularly when we have visited your furry friend. This way you’ll know we have visited that day and if there are any comments or concerns, a small note will be left to let you know what your furry friend has been up to that day.

What do I do if I want to book?

Digger Doggers will come visit you and your pet in your home for a free consultation. This gives you and your pet an opportunity to meet us while discussing any special details that you may require us to carry out while on our regular visits.

What will happen if my pet becomes sick?

Every effort will be made to contact you. If it is an emergency, we will try to use your preferred veterinarian; however, if this is not possible we will take your furry friend to the closest veterinarian or emergency clinic.

I work during the daytime. Do you do evening consultations?

Of course Digger Doggers books evening appointments to accommodate your schedule.

Are you bonded and insured?

Yes we are. A copy of our insurance is available at the customer’s request.

Do I receive a discount if I refer Digger Doggers to a friend?

Absolutely, 10% off your next month of service!

Cancellations

Cancellations do occur of course beyond one’s control and you will not be charged if given ample notice. If we come to your home and you cancel or the animal is not there, you WILL be charged for that visit.

Will the presence of a house sitter decrease my home insurance rates?

There likely would not be a reduction in premium cost if someone is checking on the property, but again, each insurer is different, and it may be something they could take into consideration.

How often will you visit my house?

Visitations will be based on client's wishes and homeowner's policy.

Must I notify my insurance company of our absence?

Yes, it is recommended that you do so. Depending on your policy, your insurance company may have certain requirements you need to fulfill. Each insurer is different & there may be other considerations to abide by.

Can I have a house sitter come live in my home to look after my pets while I'm away?

If you would prefer someone to stay at your home during your absence, this can be arranged according to availability.
